A bachelor's degree is an undergraduate academic degree awarded after completing a four-year program at a college or university. Common types include the Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), and specialized degrees like Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE).

Bachelor's degree programs combine general education requirements (humanities, sciences, social sciences) with concentrated study in a major field. Many programs also require a minor, internships, or capstone projects. Students typically complete 120-130 credit hours.

The economic value of a bachelor's degree remains strong: degree holders earn approximately 65% more over their lifetime than those with only a high school diploma. However, the rising cost of education makes it important to choose programs wisely, consider return on investment by field of study, and minimize student debt through scholarships, grants, and affordable institutions.
