The SAT is a standardized test administered by the College Board, used by most U.S. colleges as part of their admissions process. The current digital format consists of two sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. Scores range from 400 to 1600, with the national average around 1050.

SAT scores serve as a common benchmark for comparing students from different high schools, curricula, and grading standards. While many colleges have adopted test-optional policies, strong SAT scores remain valuable for merit scholarship consideration, competitive program admission, and demonstrating academic readiness.

Effective SAT preparation includes taking official practice tests, reviewing foundational math and grammar concepts, building reading comprehension skills, learning time management strategies, and starting preparation several months before the test date. The College Board offers free preparation through Khan Academy.
